Meet the Founder: Behind the Scenes of Peachy Gang

Launching a brand while pregnant, raising a toddler, working a 9-5 job, and moving house might sound a little chaotic, and it is. But if there’s one thing I’ve learned since becoming a mum, it’s how to make the most of a spare 20 minutes. And that’s how Peachy Gang was born: one nap at a time, squeezed into Mondays (my day off) with my daughter-slash-fit-model Bobby, and late nights doing everything behind the scenes.

I’m Dani, originally from London, living in Bondi, Australia for the last 10 years. I’ve always had a thing for great fabric; it started back in my personal styling days in London, where finding high quality pieces for clients was always a winner. That love for high quality fabrics and finishes deepened when I moved into fashion buying at Debenhams, working on toddler boys and kids sleepwear departments. At the time, I didn’t have kids of my own, but I learned a lot about what works (and what doesn’t) when it comes to little people’s clothes.

Here's a few throwback photos from my personal shopping days - circa 2013/14

These days, my personal style has taken a bit of a back seat (hello, mum life), but my love for fashion is still going strong, especially when it comes to dressing my daughter. I still get excited by a great print, a perfect fit, or that feeling of discovering something really well made - I love what Ziggy Zaza have done for kids clothes, I think they've nailed it!

Peachy Gang was sparked by the search for swimmers that ticked all the boxes: cute but practical, sun-safe but still stylish, soft enough to nap in and tough enough for a full day of beach play. Everything I found came up short, so I decided to create it myself.

Peachy Gang is the result. A kids swim and lifestyle brand built slowly and thoughtfully, designed in Australia, made for real play, and tested on real toddlers (mine and some trusty friends). I still work four days a week in Design Ops at Canva, so Peachy happens on Mondays, evenings, and weekends. It’s a side hustle that I hope to grow into more.

We use recycled fabrics that feel amazing and are certified UPF 50+ by ARPANSA. Our packaging — from the bags to the sticky tape — is fully compostable. I believe if you buy well, you buy once. These pieces are made to last, to be handed down, not thrown out.

The brand is also a love letter to some of the places that have shaped me: Morocco, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bali, Greece, and closer to home, the far north coast of NSW. Those earthy tones, relaxed vibes, and playful prints you see throughout the collections are mostly inspired by the places i've been.

Here's a photo of me an Bobby in Greece when she was 7 months old

I love the beach. I love the idea of surfing, still yet to master it. I love good design, good fabric, and building something that feels a little different; slower, more thoughtful and cool.

I'm currently a 1-woman band, with some support on the product and development front, but I've created everything from the designs, to the website to the socials.

Right now, the collection is small; it’s girls’ swimmers. Boys are coming before the end of the year. I’m figuring it all out as I go, but I care deeply about getting it right.

Thanks for being here and for supporting a little brand with big dreams, and a toddler at the helm...
